Rebecca Muna: Managing Director

International Trade Policy Advocacy, Strategic Planning, and Capacity Building Expert

Ms. Rebecca Muna is an International Trade Expert who recently worked as a Project Manager at the Faculty of Commerce and Management at the University of Dar es Salaam and as a Trade Analyst/Consultant to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Marketing. She also serves as a Trade Expert in the Non-State Actors (NSA) coordinating committee under the European Union (EU)/Ministry of Finance NSA programme support within the framework of ACP-EU Cotonou Agreement. Previously, she provided technical expertise in inter-institutional technical teams in Tanzania under the WTO Joint Integrated Technical Assistance Program (JITAP). She is also engaged in the Civil Society trade processes for Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) in Tanzania as a member of the technical experts' team. Ms. Rebecca Muna has strong analytical and negotiation skills in trade policy, climate change, and gender. Ms. Rebecca Muna has carried out research and offered consultancy services for a wide range of areas related to external debt, trade and aid issues. Ms. Rebecca Muna has written extensively and made presentations at national and international fora in the areas of International Trade with respect to Small and Medium Enterprise, External Debt Management, Climate Finance, Urban Resilience, Small Scale Farmers, Market Access, Trade in Services, WTO Standards, Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs), Regional Integration i.e. EAC, SADC and Tripartite FTA between COMESA-SADC-EAC and SDGs. She also participated in multilateral trade negotiation as one of the Tanzanian delegates during the 5th WTO Cancun Ministerial Conference and the 6th Hong Kong Ministerial Conference as NGO representative. She is a trainer in the areas of Trade Policy, Regional and International Trade Agreements and Negotiations. Ms. Rebecca Muna is a member of the Board of Trustees of the African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD) based in Harare, and a Board member of University of Dar es Salaam, Faculty of Commerce and Management Alumni Association. She also served as a Treasurer of the Executive Committee of Tanzania Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (TANGO) in 2002 to 2005. In the past, Ms. Rebecca Muna was the National Coordinator of a Debt Coalition of Civil Societies and of Citizen’s Global Platform and worked as a Programme Officer for various NGOs including the Tanzania Gender Network Program (TGNP) and Tanzania Social Economic Trust (TASOET). Ms. Rebecca Muna has provided leadership and management of multi-stakeholders programmes and projects, provided technical assistance and designed action based projects. Ms. Rebecca Muna managed organizations’ advocacy agendas and worked to strengthen organizations’ relationships and linkages with the Government Ministries, Departments Agencies, Local Government Authorities and other stakeholders. She was also involved in gender mainstreaming in the planning processes, budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation for various Government Ministries and Agencies.

Ms. Rebecca holds a M.A. Degree in International Trade from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, a MBA from the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) in Tanzania, and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree majoring in Finance from the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
